"I never learn from mistakes. Not even yours." "Now, come on. I can afford to take risks. Who would take care of Princess if something happened to you?" Seriously. They couldn't both get themselves killed. Otherwise, there would be nobody in Camelot to snoop around and nearly get killed by people who want to kill Arthur. And then Arthur would die and the kingdom would fall and seriously, Merlin and Gwaine played a very important role. Okay, Merlin played a very important role. Gwaine was just entertaining. Which was fine with him. He kept everyone on their toes. "You've really got this all figured out." He laughed. "I told you. Nothing to worry about." It was just a little scrap. Granted, Gwaine had never been in a little scrap quite like this (the magic vines with a nice variation) but that was good. If they never changed it up he'd get bored. The guy grabbed him by the neck and Gwaine resisted the urge to spit in his face. At least until he was finished talking. "If I were you I wouldn’t text my patience." Kay, I'd like to say that there were many obnoxious things Gwaine could have commented on, like the fact that were this guy him, he wouldn't have had the toupee problem, or that there was definitely a misuse of pronouns somewhere in there… and trust me, Gwaine didn't need to test his own patience. He knew it didn't exist. Much like this guy's. "Can hardly test what isn't there." he responded coolly, glancing again at Merlin after the vines had tightened around him before making a decision. He looked back at the guy with a hard glare. "What do you want me to do?"

Who would take care of Princess if something happened to you? Merlin chuckled. That one amused him. ”I suppose he’ll have to learn to fend for himself.” Of course he was just joking… but he could do that while Arthur wasn’t around. ”Don’t forget—they’d need a new irresponsible knight if something happened to you.” The truth was if either of them were killed Camelot would be screwed. I told you. Nothing to worry about. Yeaahhh… it wasn’t getting any more true the more he said it. It was more than just a little scrap. Merlin kept his eyes on Gwaine the whole time while the man was antagonizing him. Can hardly test what isn’t there. ”Gwaine…” he warned softly. They really weren’t in the position for them to be doing that. Merlin was trying to come up with a plan… but he didn’t have one yet and so they needed to not get themselves killed. When the vines tightened, Merlin coughed in an attempt to get some air. It wasn’t like the kid was very well-built. What do you want me to do? ”He’s not doing anything for you.” Merlin knew what Gwaine was doing. He’d done it before. You’re going to tell me where Arthur’s troops are heading, and you’re not going anywhere until after I’ve found him and returned. [/style][/style]

Gwaine grinned when Merlin started joking around about Arthur because, really, getting him to calm down and loosen up had been the whole goal here. I mean it was the least Gwaine could do after getting him into this shit to begin with. The most he could do would be getting them out but that was a work in progress. "Don't forget— they'd need a new irresponsible knight if something happened to you." "That's what I've been training Percival for!" Seriously, Gwaine thought of everything. No one can ever say otherwise. "Gwaine.." he gave Merlin a look, yanno, assuring him that he had things under control. "He's not doing anything for you." "Merlin.." What part of 'under control' was not clear in that expression? Seriously. Gwaine hadn't been quite prepared for what the man asked him however. Being a knight.. loyalty.. responsibility.. he knew it would end up more trouble than it was worth. "What makes you think I know anything?" "I was in Camelot you -umm.. insert medieval synonym for 'little shit' because that's about all I can think of right now-. I know you're one of his men." Gwaine looked at Merlin again, not bothering to give him any sign or warning as to what he was going to do. They couldn't afford to ruin it. "I'll tell you when you let him go."

At the rate they were going Percival was going to have to be ready to replace Gwaine. Yes, I’m going there. Gwaine needs to learn when a filter is good and when it’s not. Merlin.. He gave Gwaine a look of uncertainty though he remained silent, because he knew that was what Gwaine wanted from him. Though when the man said what he wanted, Merlin knew there was going to be a problem. Gwaine wasn’t going to tell him. He knew that more than anything. What makes you think I know anything? Forget the silence thing. Merlin was getting angry. ”He doesn’t.” Though the man was smart enough to know that a knight would be the person to go to for that kind of information. I’ll tell you when you let him go. ”Gwaine, stop,” he said, this time not nearly as softly as the last time he’d addressed him. He didn’t like where this was going. Not at all. However, the sorcerer wasn’t willing to comply. Having noticed Gwaine’s and Merlin’s interactions with each other, he put his hand inches from Merlin’s face, a fire appearing and spreading in a path along his body quickly. As Merlin tried to move further from the flames, he put his hand out again, Merlin’s body becoming rigid in response. He sent a glare in Gwaine’s direction, fed up with the lack of cooperation. You’ll tell me now, before he dies, or you’ll both burn. [/style][/style]

"He doesn't." Okay, so clearly no one was buying that bullshit. But you know what, they tried. And that was what was important here. Try as they might though, things were getting pretty bad pretty quickly. This guy was admittedly smarter and less psychopathic than Gwaine had given him credit for (though he'd be taking back the psychopath comment after the whole fire thing, because really, that was kind of on the crazy side). "Gwaine, stop." He didn't even look at Merlin, knowing that any sign they were planning something would lose the guys cooperation. Which.. right.. they had never had and apparently wouldn't be getting any time in the near future anyway. Well, you know, someone could stand to learn some manners. Okay, this is a bunch of pointless filler. I kind of have nothing to write about here. Okay, serious now. Yeah. Gwaine immediately tensed when the sorcerer made the fire next to Merlin, fighting against the bonds once more so he could do something however they only grew tighter. "You'll tell me now, before he dies, or you'll both burn." "They plan to head south towards the Isle of Mora." It was a skillfully rehearsed tone, rushed enough it sounded like he'd put no thought into his answer, although clearly, that place was nowhere near where Arthur's troops would actually be going. How they were going to get out of that one? Well, that was a problem for later. Gwaine didn't care right now. He masked his 'shame' with another hard glare at the sorcerer. "You know what you want, now release us."

Gwaine was doing an awesome job at completely freaking Merlin out with the ‘I’m just going to make my own plans’ thing. Obviously they couldn’t exactly discuss, but Gwaine was pretty set on going through with his plans anyway. Though once the fire started, Merlin wasn’t in a position to try to stop Gwaine anyway. They plan to head south towards the Isle of Mora. Merlin knew it was a lie. Not only had he not heard anything about that plan, but it was Gwaine…which made him even more convinced. It’d gotten them time…hopefully. The sorcerer smirked, satisfied with his new knowledge. The fire disappeared, and Merlin’s body was released (though still bound by vines). He breathed a sigh of relief though they didn’t have much time to chill and take a breather. You know what you want, now release us. He responded forcefully. As I told you, you will be allowed to go once I’ve found Arthur and returned. The man used magic to drag them inside the castle, leaving them in a small room with a heavily locked door as their only exit. Once the two were in the room, he explained, As promised, you’ll be released—if I find him. You’ll be left here about a day. If it takes me longer than that, you won’t be leaving, and you won’t be awake. So he’d done something to the room. It didn’t take long for Merlin to start noticing the drowsiness once they’d been brought there. The door was closed, and there was very little light left in the room. Merlin glanced over at Gwaine. ”Thank you for—he’s not going to find him…is he?” He said it as a statement that he was sure of. The thought crossed his mind—to use magic. They didn’t have time to figure out another way. It wasn’t even looking like there was another way. As he felt his energy draining, Merlin made the decision because they were pretty much screwed otherwise. His eyes flashed and he freely stood up, rubbing his arms and then taking care of Gwaine’s vines. He then produced a ball of light from his hand, allowing them to see what they were doing. He glanced again at Gwaine before turning back at the door. ”Please don’t say anything—“ he said, apprehensive about revealing himself. He muttered some incoherent words causing the door to open. He checked outside the room, saw that they appeared to be alone, and walked out. [/style][/style]

Gwaine knew Merlin didn't approve of what he was doing. None the less, he was going to do it anyway. Sound familiar? It should, yanno, if you've ever read a thread of ours ever. Obviously, Gwaine had come up with a brilliant plan (that he'd only used four times) which would benefit everyone (except the asshole sorcerer of course). Though had he really had to choose, while Gwaine was willing to admit Arthur was a great leader, and one of the few he was willing to serve, Merlin was his friend. The choice was extremely easy to make. Luckily, the guy seemed satisfied with his answer, though not satisfied to let the two of them go. Obviously, he'd planned for this, and worked out a pretty big mess for them to get themselves out of. Gwaine wasn't deterred though. The man explained the situation and Gwaine continued to glare at him, though he actually refrained from speaking out again until the man had left. Yeah, he wanted his medal now. Yanno, right after the nap they were apparently going to be taking because wow that stuff kicked in fast. "He's not going to find them—is he?" He shook his head. "Not even Princess can manage to get that lost." Not only had Gwaine sent the guy in the complete wrong direction, he'd also sent him through a pretty unpleasant path as far as wild animals and inhospitable people went. He was pretty awesome. Though not as awesome as Merlin, apparently, who… what? Gwaine blinked and suddenly the guy was standing up, vine free. He pulled at his own vines which had not released in the slightest before all of a sudden they were gone too. He gave Merlin a funny look as he got to his feet, not yet understanding until the younger guy had a ball of light in his hands. "You—" "Please don't say anything." All of a sudden the door opened and the two of them walked outside. Gwaine grinned, clapping him on the shoulder. "That was brilliant. A little too dull for my taste— I mean, you made that far too easy" Of course Gwaine would complain about the fact that they were able to walk out the door without having to put up any sort of a fight, but really, it shouldn't have been a surprise that he would make complete light of Merlin's magic reveal. "So how long have you— does anyone else know?" Yup, time for twenty questions. Though there was another matter of importance. Someone needed to be taught a lesson about how to use magic properly. "Well, now that we have the element of surprise on our side, what do you say we go set our own trap?"

He couldn’t believe he’d done it. He’d actually done it. Though extremely nervous about it, when Gwaine touched his shoulder, Merlin grinned. I mean, you made that far too easy. ”I can undo it if you’d like.” It was Gwaine. He needed to calm down. It didn’t take long for the questions to come out. That—he’d expected. So how long have you—does anyone else know? Merlin slowly walked around as he answered Gwaine’s questions. He wanted to be sure the guy was gone. The fact that he hadn’t known about Merlin’s magic had been extremely helpful and he wanted to keep things that way. ”My whole life…” he said, diminishing the ball of light as they no longer needed it. ”Gaius… and a small handful of people outside of Camelot.” He glanced at Gwaine with the same apprehensive expression he’d used shortly before. ”I’d… like to keep it that way.” He knew he could trust Gwaine but at the same time he was still sort of freaking over the whole thing so he just wanted to be clear. Gwaine had a pretty good way to distract Merlin, however. What do you say we go set our own trap? Merlin laughed lightly, shaking his head. ”Glad to be of service—what did you have in mind?” [/style][/style]

"I can undo it if you'd like." "Would you?" he grinned, clearly joking (alright, it was Gwaine he could have totally been serious with that statement but he happened to be joking.. mostly). "I mean, untying it evened the odds. But really, I think we could have managed the door." Obviously, Gwaine had had questions. I mean, it wasn't every day you met a sorcerer who didn't want to kill you.. Scratch that. I wasn't every day you found out that one of the few people who could tolerate you happened to be a sorcerer. However, Gwaine hadn't exactly been raised in land of the magic haters. He was a lot more exposed to these sorts of stuff than some people. "My whole life.." He made a face. "Then why Camelot?" He nodded when Merlin told him that nobody else really knew, and understandably, he wasn't looking to make that change. "No one will be hearing it from my lips." Merlin needed to stop freaking out because again, seriously, Gwaine. Granted, the guy wasn't the most responsible person on the planet, but he wasn't going to go getting Merlin into trouble. Well.. that kind of trouble.. Again. Yeah. (No, really, it wasn't going to happen though.) "What did you have in mind?" "Depends how fast we can cut him off. And how much you object you object to using magic to teach a little lesson." He smirked. Oh, Gwaine had an idea and it was going to be fun. Of course, it was important too. Assuming this guy actually did follow Gwaine's directions, he was going to be pretty pissed off in the near future. It was for the safety of Camelot that they chased down the psycho now, before he did anything drastic. But.. mostly.. it was going to be fun. Gwaine hadn't really learned much from his last sorcerer-stalking experience, but for that he had no one to blame but Merlin!

Would you? I mean, untying it evened the odds. But really, I think we could have managed the door. ”I’ve never had much patience.” He’d had to do things the slow way every time he got into shit with other people. He wanted to get out of there—they weren’t wasting time for Gwaine’s entertainment purposes… unless of course it was to get a little payback but we haven’t gotten to that part yet. You’d think with all the incidents with sorcery in the kingdom, nobody would have any questions left. This was proving to be untrue every time someone found out about him, however. Then why Camelot? ”Gaius,” he explained, beginning to feel more comfortable with the explanation thing. ”He… knows a bit about it all.” Yea, it sort of implied that Gaius had done magic though Merlin wasn’t going to say it directly. It wasn’t his information to tell. Besides, it wasn’t like Gaius still actively partook in it. Not the way Merlin did, anyway. Merlin was lazy though so like that didn’t say much. No one will be hearing it from my lips. Merlin grinned, believing him wholeheartedly. ”Thanks.” He’d clearly really meant it. There weren’t many people he’d trust with it. Which was why someone as… Gwaine…ish… as Gwaine made the list. Depends how fast we can cut him off. And how much you object to using magic to teach a little lesson. Gwaine’s smirks were frightening sometimes. Like Merlin didn’t even want to know. But… he had to admit… to himself at least… that it sounded appealing. They did have a slight advantage with the guy being unaware. ”We’ll cut ‘im off if we go…now,” he said, smirking a bit himself as he headed in the sorcerer’s direction. ”Just be careful and I’ll do as you say.” He wasn’t all about getting locked back up again. Just because Merlin had magic didn’t mean he couldn’t be taken down. ”That means no trying to punch him.” [/style][/style]
